Born in Lorraine, France, Therese Albert's early fascination with art of all forms directed her to the Ecole National des Beaux Arts in Nancy, Montpellier and Paris where she obtained the Diplome National Superieur. In the artistic atmosphere of Paris and under the guidance of Masters such as Legeult and Brianchon, Therese developed her style of sober shapes and balanced structures. The treatment of light and shade in her paintings was inspired by Georges de Latour and Bonnard.
When Therese moved to the United States, she became fascinated with the grandeur of the landscape. Her canvases are literally celebrations of colors, textures and qualities of light that can be created with paint. In her figure paintings there is a feeling of tenderness, humaness and romanticism. Therese loves to paint and describes her work as "play". Her art is reflected in her whole lifestyle as she has designed and built her homes in a Mediterranean flair using stucco, bricks, oak, tiles and even ceramic painted tiles of her own designs. Therese's whole life is an expression of her sensibilities and skill as an artist.
She is a well known artist who has studied, taught, shown and sold her works to discriminating collectors from both the United States and Europe where she frequently exhibits her paintings. Some of her galleries include Chateau des Templiers, Collioure, France; Galerie du Chateau, Arles, France; Galerie Louyout, Metz, France; and Jadoul, Montpellier, France.
